FDA Reportedly Mulling Approving Second Covid Booster Shot

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is considering authorizing a fourth dose of a Covid-19 vaccine later in the year, according to a report by The Wall Street Journal. The Food and Drug Administration has started reviewing data to authorize a second booster dose of the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines, the WSJ reported on Saturday, citing people familiar with the situation. The FDA did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Last month, the FDA amended its emergency authorization for the Moderna shot, shortening the interval for a booster shot from six months to five months. Earlier in January, the FDA cut the recommended interval between the second and third doses of the Pfizer vaccine for all adults to five months.
