Qantas to axe all international flights until October as Australia’s borders close for rest of 2020

Australian airline Qantas has said it will axe all international flights until October - bar those to New Zealand - as Australia’s borders remain closed to foreign tourists. The news comes as Australian tourism minister Simon Birmingham told the National Press Club that keeping Australia’s borders closed until 2021 is ‘most likely the case’ . Birmingham continued: “I do sadly think that in terms of open tourist-related travel in or out of Australia, that remains quite some distance off. Just because of the practicalities of the volumes that are involved and the need for us to first and foremost keep putting health first.'
