One potential silver lining is that vaccinated people catching breakthrough infections via the omicron variant may have a form of super-immunity more powerful than a booster shot, according to a couple of recent studies. Of course, given the risk of long Covid and how little we know about the disease’s long-term effects, nobody’s recommending you throw a Covid party. And unvaccinated people shouldn’t hope catching omicron will protect them from future infections, warns Lisa Jarvis.
