ID Year in Review: FDA Approvals of 2019


ContagionLive takes a look back at approvals, clearances, and authorizations granted by the US Food and Drug Administration for infectious disease products in 2019. Among these was Baloxavir Marboxil: the FDA approved a supplemental New Drug Application for baloxavir marboxil (Xofluza) for the treatment of influenza in individuals who are at increased risk of developing flu-related complications. The FDA also approved Sanofi’s Fluzone High-Dose Quadrivalent for use in adults 65 years of age and older. The vaccine will be made available for the 2020-2021 influenza season.
